The nation produced more over 100,000 barrels per day in 2015. In February 2021, the total was reduced to 64,000. The sector accounts about 40% of total exports. Because of the volatile global oil market, spikes in global oil prices endanger the country's economic stability.Cameroon has significant natural gas reserves. Natural gas reserves are expected to be 3.9 billion cubic feet. Much of this is yet unexplored. Moving ahead, this industry is expected to expand at an astounding rate.The secondary industry contributes significantly to the economy. It employs 14% of the workforce and contributes significantly to GDP. Sawmills, food processing, and textiles are the principal industry.
